Maldives - The country of Islands

22:59 by

Maldives is an island country in the Indian Ocean–Arabian Sea area, consisting of a double chain of twenty-six atolls, oriented north-south, that lie between Minicoy Island and the Chagos Archipelago. The chains stand in the Laccadive Sea, about 700 kilometres (430 mi) south-west of Sri Lanka and 400 kilometres (250 mi) south-west of India.
Many of these tropical atolls and islands are simply gorgeous, with swaying palms, white sandy beaches and deep-blue lagoons; none of the islands rise higher than 7.8 ft. above sea level.
The capital of the Maldives is Malé, with all international travellers arriving via Malé International Airport. Maldives resorts are accessed solely by domestic flights or by speed boat given that many of the islands here aren't connect by roads. Spread out over the entire archipelago, resorts in the Maldives can be up to 45 minutes away from Malé Airport by seaplane, and offer guests seclusion and pristine environs. South Malé Atoll and North Malé Atoll are both home to many luxurious Maldives resorts.
